Public Service Announcement

Objective

To learn and practice using various video cuts so you will be able to film well for your iMovie trailer

Idea

In your row group you will make a clever and humorous Public Service Announcement using video cuts. Each member in your group of 3-4 students will choose one cut for your part of the public service announcement and film someone in your group (not yourself for your cut).

Here are some examples but you can choose something not on this list too.

Filming

For your couple of film clips, you can film any way you want as the beginning. Then your group should start filming their cuts for their part of the video. When filming, your clips should be very short (less than three seconds each with multiple clips).

When filming your cut, use one action shot within your cut footage.

Feel free to film any other clips that you need so that the message of your public service announcement is clearly shown. The total time of the video after editing must be 30 seconds or less (1 point off per second over). Don't forget, these are meant to be funny so use creative clean humor but don't be silly.

Editing

Then at the end of class or at home, spend five minutes editing your clips together to make the correct clip. When you are finished editing your cut it should be 5 seconds or less. Add background music to part of your video when appropriate and at least one sound effect. At the end, use a title on a black background to say your public service announcement.

Upload

When finished, have one person place the files in a Google Drive folder and share it with your group. Then use iMovie to edit your clips for your cut but make sure it is less than five seconds long. When finished, save it to the same folder as the person who shared the Google Drive folder.
