Screencast Options

There are a variety of online applications and computer software that can be used to record your screen. The following are a few:

Quicktime (Mac Program)

Open the Quicktime player application on the Mac (you may need to search for the application on your computer) and it is a free download if needed. Then go to File > New Screen Recording.

Most make the mistake of not enabling the audio to record your voice over or music/audio playing. To do this, click on the down arrow to the right of the record button and choose "Built-in Input: Internal microphone" or another microphone if you have one. Make sure the Quality is High and Save to Desktop.

Then, import the video into iMovie and export it to Youtube (YT) or to your computer.

YouTube (Online Application, no download of software needed)

If you go to http://www.youtube.com/my_webcam, you can record directory to YouTube which elimates the extra step of creating a file on your computer before you upload it to YouTube.

Screenr (download for PC or Mac)

Download the program and when you are finished recording, type a description in the box below. Write " and click the blue "Tweet It!" box. Then click on the "Publish to YouTube" link on the right side & use your YT classID account to post the video to your YT as well.

Jing (download for PC or Mac)

You can download and use http://www.techsmith.com/jing/free/. The recording time limit is five minutes.

Hypercam (great for PC)

HyperCam is great for recording video on your computer and also includes a screencapture option similar to cmd + 4 on a Mac.

Your Camera

If all of the above don't work, just use your digital camera and set it on a pile of books and record your screen. Then post the video file to YT.
