Make a list of all the actors needed in your film and write their title and a short description of the actor in terms of characteristics you will need the actor to portray in the character. Then in parentheses, write your first choice for that actor and a second choice; include their grade or relation.
Eligible Actors
You may not use current Computer Apps (Video or Design) students as you Protagonist or Antagonist (or any other main characters that have a lot of scenes/locations) because I don't want CA students to spend additional amount of time on other students' CA work. If you absolutely need a certain CA student, see me and get my permission (if that actor does not have an A or B in CA, I will not approve) as well as have one of that actor's parents email me saying that they understand that it is optional to be an actor and may take a lot of extra time but they give permission. You can use CA students short minor roles but they may not act in more than one location and it should not take much time.
Example:
Julie - Protagonist, tall 16 year-old girl who talks fast (Gu Lee 9th, Grace Park 10th)
Mr. Lee - Antagonist, old man that looks intimidating (Fred Han, security guard)
Ginny - Shopkeeper, always appears busy (Sue Lee, mom's friend)
Most of you are doing a music-based MV; make sure you list the people who will sing and play instruments to create your song. Make sure you include backup people.
Female Vocalist - singing Over the Rainbow (Gina Lee 10th, Seri Kim 9th)
Guitarist - playing acoustic using my guitar (Mike Chung 10th, Joe Black 9th)
Drums - drum beats in GarageBand (I will create these)
If it is a documentary, you will have a lot of interviewers. List them.
You will have between now and March 4th to film all your scenes. You may start filming after you get your final script and storyboards finished. Although, your actors will want to know in advance when you will be filming so they can plan ahead. Write down all the locations you will be filming, time of day that it needs to be filmed (if it does not matter, type anytime), and the actors involved. Then write a projected date by March 4th that you plan to film. You should avoid waiting until the last minute in case you need to refilm some shots.
School (lunch) - Julie, Jim, Jake (Feb 18)
Seoul Park (sunset) - Mr. Lee, Julie, Jake (Feb 20)
Local Grocery Store (anytime) - Mr. Lee, Jim (Feb 20)
Post all this information (actors, musicians if doing an MV, & filming locations with dates) to Posterous via email.
Now email any students you have listed to be actors or backup actors asking to use them in your film and let them know the dates you plan on filming. Explain to them a brief background of your film. Make sure you have their cell number to call and remind them the day before the shoot. If they are not students you can get a verbal commitment from them. If someone turns you down, immediately email your backup actor and fill them in.
Make sure you get at least one immediate email reply response from one of your actors. Go to this checkpoint's posterous post and make a Posterous comment at the bottom indicating who confirmed.
Over the next three days as your actors commit to your film, indicate that in additional comments below the previous one. If one ever drops out, indicate that and their replacement. Remember, all your Posterous comments confirming all of your actors are due in three days from the due date of this checkpoint.
