Script Format

Review how to format & write a script for your film. Go back and find your Posterous post that has all your Acts and Scenes from a previous checkpoint which will be your outline guide as you write your script. Make sure you had at least one other person read your Acts/Scenes to make sure it flows well. Then begin writing your script in a new Google Doc. Name the Doc

CA (type of film, e.g. Story-Based Music Video, Short Film, Documentary, etc) - Film Name by Your Full Name ca4joe15.

Make the Doc public and allow mouseflip@gmail.com to make comments as well. Also allow at least two of your friends who have good writing skills access to your Doc to make comments. They will be reviewing your script and making comments.

Instructions for non-Short Films

Music Videos - The lyrics are the speaking roles; describe the action that is taking place for the action lines between the lyrics. Make sure you explain the action going on in your plot. Do not copy the same music video plots as the original MV.

Music-Based Script Format Example

Notice there are only a few lines of the lyrics before describing what happens next.

Documentaries - People being interviewed are the actors

Remember, if your original film idea was not approved and on the spreadsheet I wrote do an MV, you must do a Music-Based MV where you (or you will find someone to do it for you) sing and play the instrument of the original (famous) song. You can modify and remake the song if you want.

PART A (CP.6a)

Finish your script for Act I in your Google Doc.

Remember, this is 25% of the content from your final future script. Remember, your films must be 3-4 minutes. You must get special permission in the month of Feb if you want to go over or under these time requirements but under no circumstance can you go under 2 and over 5 minutes.

If you are doing an MV and your song is about four minutes long, then Act I, which is the intro of your plot, should be about the first 25% of the lyrics/song, which would be the first minute.

Review & Post

Ask someone in Video CA who has a good background in English to proof read and make comments on each page on how you can improve your script in your Doc. The improvements should consist of:

    • Script format
    • Use of shots and cuts (with suggestions if needed)
    • Spelling & Grammar
    • Good solid plot that flows well and is entertaining.
    • (see example below)

Take screenshots of showing all of Act I while showing its comments (see example below) and post it to Posterous along with the Doc link.

PART B (CP.6b)

Finish your script for Act II. Follow the Review & Post instructions from PART A.

Remember, this is 50% of the content from your final future script so when you are finished, you should have 75% of your final script complete when combined with Part A.

PART C (CP.6c)

Finish your script for Act III. Follow the Review & Post instructions from PART A.

Remember, this is the last 25% of the content from your final future script.
