Objective
To practice documentary techniques by creating a mockumentary (sarcastic and humorous documentary) that must be under 75 seconds that will count as a group grade. We will film these during next class with one partner who sits next to you in class. If you would like to change rows or partners, just let Mr. Heil know. If you are absent, you will have to film it on your own outside of class. In your group of two, one person will be the main subject that the documentary is about and the other partner will be the expert, friend, or observer who will give their observations and comments about the main person. You both will be acting and filming with your one topic (not separate topics) so it will be a group grade.Watch the student example about glasses & the example about being a naturalist as you will need to bring clothes to dress the part and you must have a voice accent.
Feel free to check one or two of the other examples.
Part A Planning
Directions
Choose a creative mockumentary subject idea and next class be sure to bring a costume and props for that person to wear so that they better resemble the topic. One person will be the main mockumentary subject while the other person will be an "expert" in that person's field and comment about their observations so bring props to match that as well. Part of your grade is based on creativity and if you bring props.
Learn about how to create your mockumentary storyline & read and watch about how to film documentaries (or mockumentaries) and of course always take notes on each of these.
In a Schoology comment, copy the bold list below and paste in as a comment while filling in the info for each (nonbold):
Briefly describe what you will do for each act (read the filming requirements below so you will see the order of filming and talking):
Act I:
Act II:
Act III:
Then open a Google Doc and create an outline for planning out your filming and what each person will say.
Next class we will film during class so come prepared with your script and props.
