Harlem Shake Filming

Part A

NOTE: For this assignment, we will not be filming & using the green screen part of the directions since we are not at school.

Directions

Check out some of the past examples.

You will be creating your own version of the famous Harlem Shake using the AE tools you learned and the final graded using the rubric (Tyson example cut off).

During class, you will record yourself four times with your creative but appropriate Harlem Shake dance. If you do not finish in class or want to refilm, complete it outside of class/school.

    • Record during the day using natural sunlight either inside (near a window with good natural lighting) or outside.
    • On a tripod or by placing the camera on a table or study base (camera must not move at all) film in the same position.
    • Make sure you don't overlap each other like the example on the right.
    • It is best to listen to the song during filming and record once for at least 34 seconds (the length of the song is 30 seconds but film a little longer to be safe). After you record yourself once, just move to a different spot within the frame.
    • You will have four of you in the frame after editing but film three of you doing boring stuff for 17 seconds and then do different crazy appropriate dances for 17 seconds. Your 4th person will do a little simple awkward dance for the first 17 seconds in the middle of the video frame and then dance crazy the last 17 seconds.
    • For each of the four dances, add one obvious piece of clothing or accessory. For example, you can add a hat, coat, sunglasses; adding something small like bracelet or things that can't be easily seen will not be counted.
    • You cannot have moving objects go across the screen like cars or people in the background.
    • Your lighting has to be the same in each video, if not it won't mesh and you will see a color difference like the example above and get points off.
    • After you have filmed...
    • Place your video file in your Google Drive.
    • Later in future class you will record yourself dancing on the green screen with four different outfits and add them to the last half of the song to join the other four original dancers to make 8 total dancers and complete the tutorial
    • Post to Schoology
