Tutorial 1a - Shadow Room PhotosThis assignment must be done at home in your room using natural sunlight. You must take specific photos of things in your room which you will use later to create a shadow collage.Tutorial 1aa -Three Class PhotosDuring class you will take three photos of yourself to be used in various Photoshop assignments. Remember that you are required to bring your SD card to each class and it will be checked for this assignment during class since you will need it to take photos. If you don't have it you will get points off and then borrow from a friend. Post the three unedited photos to Schoology before you leave class.Tutorial 1b - Shadow Shape
Objective: Learn to use various Photoshop tools
You should have already taken specific photos of things in your room during the day
with natural light which you will now use to create a shadow collage. If you don't have photos for your shadow collage, you can still work on this tutorial in preparing your shadow.
If you didn't have your side profile photo taken already, go to the back of the computer lab and turn on the two photography lights and use your phone or personal camera to take the following photos (example):
1. Normal front view head to shoulders
2. Funny pose front view head to shoulders
3. Side profile pose from shoulders to head (do not wear a jacket or hoody and girls put your hair back)
Now you will follow the video tutorial up until 10:35 to create a shadow of yourself like the image below.
When you are finished, go to File > Save as and save it as a JPG highest quality into your Google Drive and upload it to Schoology.

Start the video tutorial at 10:37 and complete the shadow collage.
Grading Considerations
- Make sure no photos are pixelated and that you took all the photos (all the objects are from your house or room
- Don't put two dark objects next to each other (make it contrast); two bright objects next to each other are okay but avoid similar colors next to each other.
- Make the color background contrast and pleasant; do not use dark colors. Your name should be a contrasting color that stands out from the background (dark or light is okay)
- Your side view should be composed like the purple shadow at the top right. You should cut yourself off at the bottom of the page at your shoulders or top of your chest.
When you are finished, go to File > Save as and save it as a JPG highest quality into your Google Drive and upload it to Schoology.
Bring a print card to class and you will print it next class.

Tutorial 3a - Grunge Creative text, textures, & layout 45m
- Open Photoshop and create a new A4 document; save it as classID Grunge Tutorial in your Google Drive.You will be making a grunge graphic but in the video, instead of using a band name from the video directions, use a creative fun nickname for yourself. If you do not have one, take your first name and add one creative word with the same first letter, first letter sound, or a word that rhymes with your name (e.g. Crazy Kim, Cool Chris, Lucy Goosy)
- For the photo of yourself, use the creative fun pose that Mr. Heil took of you in class with the white background. If you did not take it, use your phone or camera to take a funny photo at home or in the back of the classroom. Try to use a solid color background behind you when taking the photo.
- Download and save one of these textures that you will later use in the tutorial
Follow the directions from video I although keep in mind the following as you follow the video:
- Do not stroke the text because the extending downward lines of the text will not look combined
- Make sure to type your first and last name in slightly smaller text in a creative space (e.g. example above)
- When finished, export as a JPG and upload to Schoology.

Follow the directions from & video II although keep in mind the following as you follow the video:
- When you crop your image, make sure that it is a perfect square (use the shift key when resizing the crop square)
- If you cannot fill the triangle area with a pattern, try to remove the fill
- If you cannot fill in the triangle area or the fill pattern still does not work, press b for the brush tool and try to paint/fill it
When finished, export as a JPG. Go to the CA Google Drive Folder and save your file as ca1.last.first name in the folder.

and upload to Schoology. Open the JPG and print in A4 color preferably using the school printers and bring to your next CA class after the due date. Make sure to cut your square out.
