Mini Photos

Take Mini Photos

Take three different photos with the correct photo quality from a high angle looking down at an angle towards the ground. This angle is essential because without it you will not be able to get a photo that will later look like a miniature after editing.

Make sure there is a focal point at one of the four rule of thirds' points and vertical or horizontal rule of thirds according to the photography composition you learned. It is also good if there are bright colors in the photograph and if there are people and vehicles.

Do not take wide shots, example:

Instead of tigher shots, example:

It helps if your photo has a lot of objects or surroundings with color, this photo lacks color

Do not take your photos at night or vertical like this photo:

Later in class, you will be editing the photos to look like miniature models. See the examples to give you ideas of what kind of photos work best.

Post all photos with a proof photo to your Picasa in an album called Miniature Models. Make a comment on Picasa which one you think is best and why. Take a screenshot of your Picasa photos in your album and post to posterous along with the Picasa link to the spreadsheet.

(You do not have to edit your photos yet, you can do this in class at a later date. And you have to use the school iMac because your Macbook PS does not allow you to do one of the instructions: Filter->blur-> lens blur)
