- Photography Firsts
- Before we continue on with more video concepts, we should visit a little history of video and before video there was photography. Signup for a topic and use the title as the title of the new webpage you create on the site and put it under the current page.
- View some of the slideshows past students made on other photographers. Some did not do well in format and content.
- At the top of the page insert the key image for photography first. Then write the following below the image and use the same headings:
- Summary
- Then write a short paragraph summary in your own words about the image. Insert a small picture of the inventor and align right/wrapped.
- Explained
- Write a short paragraph explaining and new photography terminology or technical terms that would need to be explained someone read it and knew nothing about photography. Insert a larger picture but not larger than the first picture at the very top...insert it below the paragraph of something in the paragraph you explained and center it.
- At the end type By Your Name and insert a small black and white photo of yourself below it.
- Take a screenshot of your page and post it to posterous.
- Photography Pioneers
- Signup for a photographer and use the title Year of Influence Name (e.g. 1920-1935 Thomas Keeter) as the title of the new webpage you create on the site and put it under the current page. Write the following below the image and use the same headings and for each paragraph, insert a coordinating landscape photo for each paragraph and align it right while wrapping it as a S (small) image; make sure the text format and size match the rest of the site:
- Background
- Write a paragraph on the background of the photographer. Start when he or she grew up and any influences (people, environment, events) they had when they were young or other influences that urged them to the photography style they developed.
- Growth
- Include any background on how they developed as a photographer from beginning to being famous.
- Style
- Explain their style of photography
- Themes
- Explain their themes of photography
- Famous Works
- Create a new Picasa album and title it the name of your photographer and insert five famous photographs from the photographer and insert the album (Insert > Picasa Album) onto the page. Use captions to include the names and/or descriptions of the photographs and choose to show the captions.
- Review
- Write five good questions and answers that cover the material you wrote. You may use images for your questions.
- In case you don't understand what themes and styles are, view the content example but it does not need to be in this format.
- Post
- Take a screenshot of the webpage and post to posterous along with the link to the picasa album.
- Future Assignment
- In an assignment coming up soon you will be taking photos and try to replicate this photographer's style and theme. You will then create a narrative slideshow illustrating the content on your page using iPhoto. So make sure you plan ahead to shoot some basic photographs.
- iPhoto
- Now that you know the themes and styles of your photographer, try to emulate these by taking photographs; most of them should be taken outside. Sort through your photographs and choose your best three but make sure they are not of the same thing. Then use Photoshop to make it match the style and look of the photographer.
- Open iPhoto and create a slideshow lesson sharing about your photographer. The first photo you will use is a title page created in Photoshop which includes the name of the photographer, years they lived (e.g. 1820-1877), a picture of them, and Presented by Your Name with a small picture. Make sure you use the layout principals you learned to arrange these elements in an organized way with white space and a good color scheme with kuler.
- After the title image, follow the same format as your text on your webpage and add the Picasa Photo examples and your three photos after. When you show their photos, make sure to describe the background of the photo and how the theme and style is illustrated. Use this same description narration for your photos. Then add a title image that says Photos by Your Name that illustrate Photographer's name and insert your top three photos in the Picasa album after the other photos.
- For the background information on the photographer, choose appropriate photos but make sure they are large enough and won't pixelate.
- Go to iClarified and view the instructions on how to create a slideshow. Use the following settings:
- Theme: Ken Burns effect
- Soft wordless background music
- For the timing you have to set it according to the photos
- Narrate in a clear flow voice
- Add two sound effects
- Post
- Upload the video to your YT account and also the CA account. Embed the video at the top of the page and edit the embed code of the video so it is wide and fits the page width like you have previously done. Take a screenshot of your page and post it to posterous along with your YT link on your YT and the link to the page.
