Seoul Cuts Edit

Directions

You should have already imported all of your footage into iMovie. You will now edit your film and make sure you include all of the cuts, shots, and angles according to the previous filming directions. I will allow your final video to be 1:30-2:30 in duration.

MusicPreferably at the beginning of your film you will need to change the clips on the beats (make the clips change to the beats at least five consecutive times) like these two examples:student example & NY example. So now you will choose your music before you start editing. You need to try to find a music track to use as your background (any genre) that does not have any lyrics. If you are not sure what music to use, you can use Incompetech or http://www.video2mp3.net. Since you will only part of a song to make the time requirement so make sure you fade the audio at the end of the last clips.Editing

If your clips are too dark you may need to increase the brightness but hopefully you don't need to because it may turn them grainy. Remember that later you will be cropping out the top and bottom of the frame (like the frame below) so make sure you adjust, crop, or move your focal points so they are near the rule of thirds' points while following good composition.

Titles

For the first clip choose the transition fade from black so the first clip gradually appears. On the first 1-3 video clips you can write the title "Seoul" or you can choose not to include a title. At the end of the video fade to black and add text to a black background that says Filmed & Edited by Your First & Last Name.

Coloring You will now edit all of your video clips so they have a "film look" & to do this bring the contrast to 15% and change your white point to a slight yellow-orange look like the screenshot (good for indoors or cloudy days) or a bluish/purple (good for sunny outdoors). Select all your clips (cmd+a) and then click on one of the selected clips video editing properties and change the color and it will apply it to all of the selected clips. If you have some outdoor and some indoor clips then you can have different coloring based on that.FeedbackWhen you are finished, ask someone to watch your rough draft and have them give you feedback on at least three things they liked and three things that you could do to improve the editing. Then export your video to your desktop as Large size.Widescreen

You will be making your film widescreen to make it look more like a film so follow these directions to export in iMovie:

Go to Share > Export Using Quicktime & name the file with the format ca4joe15 Seoul Cuts and then click on Options on the right side

In the Movie Setting options, click on Size

Then change the dimensions to Custom and choose 1920 x 820

When finished it must be 1-2min in length and there will be one point deduction for each second it is over or under time.

Post to your Vimeo account and the vimeo link to the spreadsheet and WP. Also post your Vimeo link to your WordPress and the original file to your DropBox for safe keeping.
