CD Producer Design

In the past, CA Design students have created a movie poster using a character they made but you will be making a square design that will be behind your CD.

So you will follow the video tutorial (starts at about 15:00 but stop at 38:40; if you don't have your self-portrait done just start making the rectangle and designs) but there will be modifications in the requirements to have it fit your CD scheme instead of a poster:

    • Instead of creating a character, you will create and insert your self-portrait vector
    • Instead of the character's name (e.g. Mr. Drip), include your first name. For the text below Mr. Drip and above Hot Summer in the example, type "Producer."
    • Do not include any text that shows on the bottom one-third of the page (movie title, etc).

Overview

You will create a movie poster advertisement for a new cartoon movie like the one above (don't worry, you will not make the movie).

Now read and learn about the Root 2 Rectangle and notice a lot of movie posters use this rule.

Tutorial

Follow the video tutorial directions and make your own unique character & name; do not use the same (Mr. Drip or the Popsicle object) and do not use any of the original characters. Although, if your character is more horizontal, you can make your middle rectangle like Hobo's movie poster and choose adjectives to describe and place on it. Notice on hers, she has all the elements and you can rearange things if you think they will look better that way as long as you use design layout principals.

Typography & Design Layout

Use repetition and proximity in Unity while remembering to apply what you learned about Rhythm. Use the typography rules.

You can break up the words like the tutorial did. Make sure the text color is faint as in the tutorial. In the directions, you don't have to use Photoshop. Instead of the paper texture, just make a gray box in Illustrator and add any effect to it to add texture; you don't have to warp it.For the text in the ce

There is also the text 09, replace it with the current year. Where it says blog, spoon, & graphic, use the same style of font (high stroke value), replace with three description words for your character. You should also add some of the colored graphics you drew on top of the edges of the center paper like the tutorial.
