Google Apps Tutorial 1: Form Survey

Forms

Read about how to takes notes and then complete the directions to create a Google Form.

Finally, email 10 people your complete Google Form from Tutorial 1 (at least 5 must submit responses to get full credit). You can also post your form link online for your friends to view. If you are new to this school, you can ask your old friends if you enable and make the form available to people outside of the YISS domain.

Google Apps Tutorial 2: Spreadsheet Grades

Sync

First sync your Google Drive on your iMac according to the directions.

When working on assignments always open the video tutorial on the left side of your screen and the assignment application (e.g. Word) on the right side (like the image below) and use cmd + tab to switch back and forth between applications.

Follow the video tutorial directions (always take notes) to learn how to use the If Then equation to calculate a pass/fail grade sheet. When finished take a screenshot of your work and post it to Schoology and write a comment about your favorite core class (science, math, english, or history) and why.

Survey Friends

If you did not already from the previous directions, email 10 people your complete Google Form from Tutorial 1. You can also post your form link online for your friends to view. If you are new to this school, you can ask your old friends.

Guidelines

Read over the class guidelines and take notes on things you think is important to remember.

Profile

In class we will take your photo. When finished, use the photo to update your Twitter and Gmail profile.

Spreadsheet Shortcuts

Then write down the following shortcuts in your CA book. If you ever forgot your CA book, write it on a half sheet of plain paper and rewrite in your CA book later.

Google Apps Tutorial 3: Spreadsheet Lists [battleship]

Lists 45min

Go to your class Google Drive and open a new Spreadsheet and rename it at the top left "Spreadsheet Tutorials Your Name."

Follow the video tutorial directions (always take notes) and as always, take notes while working on the tutorial. Then for the highest players' tab do the following:

    1. add the following bold headings
    2. italicize (cmd + i) row 2
    3. resize the columns to fit the data tighter (but not too tight)
    4. change the three player rows to different light colors.
    5. take out the grid lines (view > grid lines)
    6. resize the rows of the three players to make them bigger and vertically center the row so that the info is resting in the middle of the row instead of at the bottom of each row.
    7. Then search for one of the players listed and use one that is more wide and take a screenshot of it; insert it below hose players below the last player listed.
    8. Take a screenshot of your data like the image below but include the image as well.

Next go to File > Download > PDF and use the settings below:

When finished take a screenshot of the PDF with your Evernote Webclipper like the example above and also post the screenshot to the Schoology assignment. Now go back to the previous two tutorials and make sure you have half to a full page of notes for each in your CA book (remember you can use your notes on a future quiz) and make sure that you takes notes on the shortcuts.

MLA (60 min)

Watch the video tutorial to learn about how to apply MLA formatting. When finished, take an Evernote Screenshot of the page like the example below showing the comment and post to Schoology.

Google Apps Tutorial 6: Slides (80 min)

Overview

Choose one of the clubs that you have signed up for this year as you will create an interactive Google Slideshow (example) about the club so that others can know more about it.

You can begin the tutorial but in order to complete the tutorial you will need to take photos of the following and insert them into your Google Slides:

    1. Two club leaders, officers, advisors, or members (you may use photos of the person found online or taken by other students).
    2. A photo of the room where the club meets (you may use photos of the actual room found online or taken by other students; if you don't know where they meet, use any photo of a YISS classroom).
    3. Three vertical photos that relates to the activities that are involved (ping pong club: student holding a ping pong paddle, forensics: student pretending to give a speech, etc). If you cannot think of a photo to take for your club, write the club name on a piece of paper and have a member of the club hold it and point to it while making a creative expression.

Watch the video tutorial (skip the Google+ part at the end) below and follow the directions to create a club slideshow.

When finished, go to Share and choose to share it with "Anyone at YISS with the link can view". Copy the presentation link and post it to Schoology (you can skip the Google+ directions on the video tutorial).

on your Google+ page as Public and also share it with one of your reliable friends by typing their email in the share section and have the friend make a comment about your club on Google+ and "Like" it.

Take an Evernote screenshot of your post on Google+ which also shows your friend's comment and post it to Schoology along with the Presentation view link.
