General Stop Motion

Storyline

Be creative and choose a storyline that would best utilize and show a cool effect with stop motion effect that you could not do with normal video. You must film in normal landscape mode (horizontal), not portrait (vertical).

    • ere are some of my favorite and what CA students did in the past but without the Stand Up theme:Sleeping example
    • Moving example
    • Legos example
    • Mario Cart example
    • Paper Cat example
    • Switching Clothes example
    • Here is an example of creative stop motion that you could not achieve just by filming but needed to use stop motion effects.
    • You will also need to create the title "by your first name (& last if you prefer)" using stop motion to add at the end.RequirementsMust photograph outside or inside during the day near a window with natural light; major points off for videos with poor lighting
    • You cannot be in the video since you have to take the photos & direct any actors
    • Use good photo composition and lighting from what you learned last quarter
    • All photos must be horizontal, not vertical
    • It should be creative and entertaining with a shallow yet creative purpose and plot
    • The final video must about 30-45 seconds of stop motion video (deduction of one point per second you go over/under)
    • Find an appropriate background song that matches the content of your video
    • Do not simply take photos of the action so it looks like a normal video.

Part of your grade will be based on how well you utilize stop motion creatively and doing things that you could not do in normal life if filmed with video (e.g. jumping really high, changing your clothes with a snap, sliding on the ground instead of walking).

Photo Taking

    • You will need to take at least 130 quick consecutive photos with good natural light either inside or outside to meet the time requirement but do not take more than 230.
    • 130 = ~30 seconds
    • 220 = ~45 seconds
    • When you take your photos you must have each of the shots (medium, wide, closeup) and angles (low, eye, high, aerial, dutch) while keeping good photo composition (you learned these concepts last quarter).
    • Take all your photos in landscape, not portrait size.
    • Take four fun and expressionate selfy photos of yourself in good lighting that you will use in the credits of your video at the end.

Place all of your photos into your Google Drive folder and take one screenshot of the image thumbnails inside the folder (like the example below so you can see at least 20 photos) and post to Schoology.

Be original.
