Story Text

Mom's Hurrying Home by Svetlana Dorosheva

Share your written story doc with a classmate to have them proof read your story one final time. Choose someone you trust would be able to give good suggestions on narrative arc, grammar, spelling, and writing style. They need to insert and make at least six edit comments in the margin using the comment feature in Google Docs and suggest how you can improve various areas of your story.

While you are waiting for them to make edits to your Google Doc, go back to your backgrounds 1 and 2 and make final background revisions. Delete your color scheme boxes. Ensure that the main focus of your designs is not too much in the center like the example above since when we print them, there will be a gap in the middle like the example below.

Then add the text of your story to one side of the background. Do not use decorative font but use simple font that is easy to read for children and not too big but not too small. You may not use a transparent box to put the text as storybooks generally do not use these.

Export as full quality JPG and then crop it in half so it is ready to print A4 portrait. When you cut your background in half, there will be a left and right page.

When we print the books, we will print them A4 portrait and then use spiral binders like the one below.
