Creative Characters

Brainstorm

Using your creative imagination, brainstorm four types of characters for your story. View these creative characters to gain ideas. Notice most of these characters show personality & are unique; this is what you will also try to accomplish. The characters can be anything (e.g. monsters, animals, people, fruit, objects, etc) but avoid using famous characters (e.g. Micky Mouse, Veggie Tales, Batman, etc.), people from the Bible, & demonic characters (e.g. Satan, demons, witchcraft).

Grading

In choosing your characters you may want to decide how simple or complex you want to make your characters. Part of your project grade is the quality and degree of difficulty of your characters and story backgrounds. Now you do not want to make your story graphics too complex but you do not want to make them too simple.

Just Right

Many of my previous students' characters lacked personality, creativity, and uniqueness although there are a handful of characters who did do well. Check out their characters.

Notice the personality and creativity of this character gang (e.g. pig).

You have probably seen these characters before and one of the reasons they are so popular is because their appearance is so unique with plenty of characteristics. You can basically estimate their personality just by looking at them.

Starting with a previous student's character and then with characters found on the Internet, explain the type of personality you think or know each has in one sentence for each based purely on appearance. Type a heading for each character so the viewer knows which one you are talking about; try to describe in the order you post the screencaptures. The screencaptures and descriptions should be one post to posterous.
