Directions

When in class, you may not listen to your own music. If you have any music requests, you can ask Mr. Heil to play in class but don't listen to your own.

  • Log into your school email and go to your Google Drive. Then go to File > New Document. If the Google Doc is in Korean and you cannot see many fonts then go to google.com and change the settings in the bottom right to Google.com in English.

In your CA Book, write notes on the following shortcuts.

  • Go to File > Page Setup and use the following settings but choose your own light page color background and change the Paper Size from A4 to A3 with the margins 0.5
  • Type your name in a light thin font, about 48pt in size
  • Insert a horizontal line (insert > line) directly under your name (shortcut is ctrl + en
  • Next you will be placing text below the line so highlight the row below the line (see Donna's example below) and change the text size of 48pt that carried over from the title to 11pt.
  • Copy and paste the following text & questions under the horizontal line and bold them.
  • Who are you?
  • What do you do?
  • When did you start doing what you’re doing?
  • Where are you?
  • Add bullets to these four questions but do not use the solid black bullet below.
  • This composition will explain the following about Your Name:

(font should be 11pt)

  • Insert your profile photo you used for class saying "Howzit!" and move it to the right side of the page by wrapping the text (click on the image and click "wrap text" and right align the image). Resize it according to the example above.
  • Insert a table that is four columns wide and four columns in length. Click anywhere in the table and go to table > properties and change the border width to 0.5 and border to white.
  • In the first row only, change the background color of each cell to white by going to table properties > cell. Make sure click on the white color to select it even if white appears to already be selected.
  • In the second row, type the Who, What, When, & Where headings. Space out the column widths equally. Apply bold, center, color, and 14pt font.
  • In the third row, write 1-2 sentence for each section (Who, What, When, Where) in first person.

The examples may have more than one sentence but I only want you to write one sentence but feel free to use ; to continue your sentence.

Who

Write 1-2 sentences describing who you are and how you first got interested in your career choice. If you took the personality test in Mr. Hannah's class, type your personality type. If you did not take the test, just guess.

What

Write 1-2 sentences explaining what you like to do pertaining to your career and what future plans you have with it.

When

Write 1-2 sentences explaining when you started pursuing this career and what inspired it.

Where (city/country)

Write 1-2 sentences about where you grew up and how that may have influenced your career choice, where you live now, and where you hope to work.

Now take square screen shots of the When & Where images in the google doc. Insert the images in the first row of the table but change the boy reading a book image and find an image that better represents your interest. Also, instead of using the mom hugging the boy in Who, use a personality image that represents your personality trait.

Click inside the first cell (box) of the first row and go to Table > Properties and change the cell's values to the following and make sure all of the images are horizontally aligned as well as vertically aligned:

  • Delete the extra last row in the table
  • Then go to View > Print layout
  • Add the following heading below in bold to the table with 12pt font:
  • What Your Name's friends say about him/her:
  • Then go to the top right of Google Docs in the Share settings and invite someone who sits next to you as a collaborator for your doc. Ask him or her to write a sentence or two about the positive qualities they see in you. Make sure they include their name after the quote and be sure to add quotations and italicize it when they are finished. Below is an example:
  • Joshua is a dedicated friend who is always there to assist and help me learn complex equations in math class. He pays close attention to details and turns in assignments on time. I can always count on Joshua to be there for me.” -David Suh
  • Go to View > and click on the Compact controls and Full Screen. If you cannot see all of the content, hold down command + or - to make it smaller and then take a screenshot and also post the screenshot to the Schoology assignment.
  • Finished!
