Make sure the actors are well equipped to act and are wearing creative clothes that match your narrative arc. Avoid clothes with large name brand logos.
Review the following concepts that you previously learned about shooting video:
--> Student Videos Tutorials: - Focusing, Composition, Audio, & Lighting
--> Shooting with Rule of Thirds (video) & Shot Composition (video)
--> Ways for filming your footage
--> Camera angles, subject shots, & action shots,
Cameras
Film at high quality (at least 480p) and if you are using dialog among your actors, it is very important that you place the camera near the subject so you can record their audio at a higher quality like the video tutorial taught you.
Stable
Remember that the camera needs to be steady when filming and a tripod is recommended. Points will be taken off if the camera shakes too much.
B-Roll
B-Roll is important to show the environment and minor parts of your short film's subject. Make sure to watch the first four minutes of the B-Roll Tutorial.
Requirements
Use at least five of each: Camera angles, cuts, subject shots, & action shots,
Time
Film over five minutes of footage and then later you will edit it down to 3-5 minutes according to your song's length.
Master ShotsUse one Master Shot that will fit well with your narrative arc. Remember, you should try to incorporate the Master Shot that you used when you created an example of it in class.Special EffectsYou are not required to use any special effects using After Effects (e.g. dance video) with the footage you shoot but feel free to incorpoarte any to make your film more creative.Premiere SetupWhen you are finished, create a new folder called Short Film in your CA folder in your school account's Google Drive. Then create a folder in the Short Film folder called Clips & Deleted Clips and sort all of your footage into these two folders but never actually delete any clips as you never know when you may need them. Open Adobe Premiere and choose the HDV 720p24 preset sequence (right screenshot) and name it Last, First Name Short Film and save it in your Short Film folder on your Google Drive. After you save it correctly you will see that it creates a few other Premiere folders (example below) that it needs to save and run your project.Upload
When you are finished, upload and sort your footage in the Google Drive. Take a screenshot of your video file thumbnails in the folder as well as screenshots of video clips of your protagonist and antagonist then email to WP (example below) but in the body of the email, copy and past the following into the email and write the information on how you will use each for your short film according to what you filmed. If you did not film something, write you did not film it...do not make something up as you will be accountable for what you say you filmed.
In Schoology upload the screenshot of your video file thumbnails.
