Hit play and watch the video above while you read through these directions and write out your acts and scenes...multitasking is a beautiful thing. Take some notes on the key points of the video.
You have had plenty of time to think of your film idea and get it approved. If you did not get an approved Posterous comment below your Pitch idea, you will be creating a music-based MV. Complete this checkpoint even if your MV song/idea has not been approved.
Open a new email and write the following:
Type of Film: (e.g. Music-Based Music Video)
Title of Film
If you are doing a music video, copy and paste the lyrics again and make sure all the content is appropriate. Remember, you can write your own song and show your creativity.
Scene Overview
Label your three acts, Act I, Act II, and Act II and write all your scenes within each of the acts. Review the information about the three acts and remember what content of your film each act must have and how long each act should be (25/50/25 rule).
Write the information for all your scenes in your film in order to follow your story structure (intro, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, & conclusion with a twist in there. Write your scenes in chronological order and indicate the locations, props, and actors. Make sure your locations and actions are manageable to film.
Changing Scenes
Your first scene is the first location of your film. The second scene is the second location. Whenever you change locations, you change scenes. For example, if your first scene starts in science class but then later it moves to the gym, the next scene would be the gym. There are often numerous scenes under each act. Remember, Act II begins with the rising action and the first scene in Act II would be Scene 1.
