Recorded Rough Draft

Post the photos that you took of your background sketches to a new Picasa album named Animated Story Rough Draft.

Picasa

Order them from background 1 to background 10. In the caption write bg1 (for background 1), bg2, etc. and then copy and paste the rhyming text for that background. Make sure each sentence starts on a new line.

In a comment, describe which parts of your background and objects will be animated and what sound effects you will add for the scene. Picasa Example (you do not have to post the title page or characters at this time)

(Comment 1)

Sunset: The sun will set in the background while changing the sky to a sunset

Tree Branches: The wind will get stronger & the branches will shake from the wind

Car: The car will move down the street from left to right while the wheels spin

(Comment 2)

Sound Effects: birds chirping, car engine starting, coughing

(Comment 3)

Each group member must appear in at least two story backgrounds each; they can be any of the ten backgrounds but try not to put both of your green screen parts in the same scene always; be creative.

Write a comment each time you appear in the story and write the character's name and a description of what he or she will do and the interaction.

Example: Mr. Jolly (James): He will enter the room and have a pillow fight with the monkey

(Comment 4)

Email and ask your partner to go through and make a separate comment and describe what animation they will add for each scene with the AI story characters they are making. Have them write in all CAPS the body part of accessory/prop that is moving...which will be a separate layer in AI when they create the character. They can complete this comment up to 24 hours after the due date of this checkpoint but you should still post your part on time.

Example

Xao- His ARMS move to grab a banana and his HAT falls off. His MOUTH turns from a frown to a smile.

Your partner should then write a comment on at least two backgrounds for his character's green screen part (see comment 3 for details).

YT

Finally, use Quicktime to record your screen of yourself going through each of the story's slides (in full screen) while narrating them (example below). If Quicktime does not work, use a video camera and record the screen or your backgrounds in your CA Book while you narrate.

When you record, pretend that a little boy or girl will be watching this draft, not a teacher...so don't make informal comments or explanations to the teacher. Be sure to speak clearly and change your voices in a creative way according to the characters. When you narrate, don't record too fast but not too slow and make sure there is not long unnecessary pauses. This example is a good pace. When finished, your narration needs to be at least 2:30 minutes long but try not to have it longer than 3:30 since you still have to add the title and author pages.

Then import it into iMovie and upload to YT and post the YT link in the same article with your Picasa album link and in the Posterous post, describe what character you will be and what creative clothes you will wear for the costume.
