Character
Part A
During class we will learn about Character
Then copy the following to Schoology and fill it in according to your story. One of the characters (not the protagonist or antagonist) must be the YISS Guardian. Use him to help teach the moral of the story.
CHARACTER
Your characters are a huge part of your story that allows the reader a medium to relate to the story. Sketching your character ideas on paper allows your mind to freely draw. It does not matter if you are not good at drawing, just make sure they look unique and have personality.
Here are early sketches of some of the most famous cartoon characters, which were drawn in the 1920s. Notice the simple shapes and differing personalities/expressions.
To help you brainstorm, draw at least three different character ideas for your story in your CA ideas book for about ten minutes in pencil, marker, or pen (you do not need to color them now). Keep in mind that the audience is elementary students and the color scheme that you will want your story and characters to follow. Be sure to go back and add physical characteristic details and personality to your characters. Notice how much character the three animals below have:
Mr. Heil will check your drawing in class and post to Schoology the character text above and an Illustrator drawing of your protagonist in A4 landscape and use a color scheme. You can go back and make the protagonist better later.
Part B
Then open Illustrator and draw your antagonist, protagonist, and side kick characters for your story while using different color schemes. Take a screenshot of each color scheme like the example below. You do not have to make the Guardian, he will be given to you. Be sure to use a color scheme that coordinates well with your character.
When finished, insert each character's name and your class photo in the bottom-right corner and make sure you place your characters in a neat organized way because we will be printing these to put up on the wall.
