Fight Plan

The following are the minimum requirements; you can add extra angles, shots, and cuts to improve it if needed. All of it should be two minutes or less after editing so be precise and efficient in your filming.

    1. Establishing shot (extreme long shot) of the location with the referee
    2. Medium shot insert cut with the referee
    3. Closeup aerial shot of only the referee looking at his watch or phone (time) shaking his head and looking to see where the boxers are (they are late)
    4. Use cross cuts to show the following actions of what the fighters are doing, which is happening at the same time:
    5. Boxer #2 (black) is sleeping (high angle long shot, then cut to eye-level medium shot)
    6. Boxer #1 (white) is busy doing something else that you can choose what they are doing (low angle medium shot then cut to a different type of subject shot/angle of your choice)
    7. Show #2 sleeping again from a different angle and take 3-4 cuts of different sleeping positions showing that he is sleeping a long time.
    8. Use a progressive cut (at least one hour has passed) to show Fighter #1 finishing what he was doing
    9. #2 wakes up alarmed and jumps up fast!
    10. Cut back and forth so they are both walking towards the area where the referee is waiting and use action cuts
    11. As they walk, use cutting rhythm with different angles and at least four variation shots each of the fighters as they are walking towards the referee
    12. The referee greets fighter #1 and #1 points towards the direction of fighter #2 on the opposite side
    13. Use an Eyeline Cut so fighter #2 receives the looks and laughs out loud hysterically reaction cut then cut back to fighter #1 closeup shot on her eyes as she puts her game face on with intensity
    14. You should have now established the 180 degree line for your fight
    15. Show a medium shot of only the referee having his hands out and indicating to the fighters to bow while showing them the gesture
    16. Have #1 bow down his head with his hands together pounded and use a match cut to have #2 raise himself from the bow, thus completing the action of the bow from #1
    17. Then have the two boxers knock gloves with each other like the image on the rightShow a long shot of only the two fighters on each side without the ref
    18. Film a low angle behind #2 through the arm like the diagram (framing) and make sure you can see #1 though the arm. Use a camera that can that has manual focus (borrow the class DSLR camera if needed from Mr. Heil) and focus it on the hand in the foreground, then rack the focus to boxer #1 in the background. Make sure the changing of the focus is smooth and not too fast.
    19. In these examples, the larger man in the black shirt is fighter #1 and the other guy in the white shirt is fighter #2.
    1. Then film a medium shot behind the shoulder of #1 with a eye-level view showing #2 in the same pose with their hands on the hips.
    1. #1 will throw a few punches towards the shoulder and head of #2 and #2 will block it and dodge them. Then show a POV from #1's view which shows #2 about to throw a punch (like the image below). Then have #2 throw a side punch at the camera (POV #1) and have the camera turn and react to the punch by turning the camera away from the punch and add a little shake.
    1. Then show #1 in a medium close shot as they react to the blow that was already given (do not show the girl actually being hit) and show them falling down and as you do, have the camera complete a tracking shot (not a vertical pan) downward to follow boxer #1 to the floor like the image on the right and below. The camera should now be in the POV position on the floor of #1. Film a vertical pan shot POV starting with #2's shoes and slowly stand/staggering up while panning vertically until you reach #2's face who has a confident and cocky look. Then cut to a POV of #2 pounding his gloves together as he glares down at #1.
    2. Show a low angle of #1 slowly standing up and staggering dizzily to their feet. Use a closeup high angle slowly moving down to an eyeline shot of #2's eyes going from wide open to a half open anger look snear and slowly bring the boxing gloves to their face just under their eyes.
    3. Now #1 is going to deliver some big punches at #2. Before they throw the punch and the guy falls down, make sure the camera man is at the right angle to make it appear to be real. The angle and motion should be in a way so that it does not appear to be a gap between the fist and the face, but there must be at least 6 inches from the fist and the face.
    4. Show a medium long shot right hook punch, change the camera position and angle to a medium shot and show a left hook punch.
    5. Now show a POV of #1 throwing the same left and right punches they threw at #2 and have #2 react to the blows (like the image below) and add a consecutive third upper cut punch with a #2 reaction. It does not have to be fast; you can add speed to the punch later when you edit.
    1. Now you will set up your camera to get a long shot side angle shot showing both boxers in the frame. Show #1 delivering the final upper cut boxing blow that was delivered in the previous cut and #2 receiving the blow and jumping upward and backward with their head back because it was such a big upper cut hit and have him fall to the ground.
    1. Now have the referee come back to the scene and film a medium eye-level shot of the referee going to grab the winning fighter's wrist raising the winning fighter's wrist high into the air. Then film a cutaway that shows a closeup of the referee grabbing the wrist of the fighter which you will insert later.
    2. You can simply end it there or if you have time, you can add another ending after that shot.

When finished, move all the video files to one person's dropbox and have that student share the dropbox link with the other group members. Take a screenshot of the files in the dropbox either in the folder or online and post to Posterous the screenshot but do not post anything to the spreadsheet. Have the rest of the group post the same screenshot they received from the group member. Nobody needs to post anything to the spreadsheet.

do not do:

harrison ford:

To film the falling down shot, use this falling down Master Shot (read & see diagram).

but make sure you use the Master Shot for Moment of Defeat.

Make sure you film in such a way that it is realistic and use a matching motion master shot like Neo explains in the video below.

For your final attack, you can choose who will be going next. This is the final one so his actions will result in a win. Make sure to include a block or two from the potential winning fighter before he delivers his punches or kicks that defeats the opponent. Now this is your chance to experiment with camera angles to get a good fighting effect.
