Portrait Editing

After you have photographed your portraits in class, follow the directions below:

PART A Self-Portrait EditWatch the video tutorial to edit your self-portrait. Add your name in black color but a thin white stroke with cursive font on the bottom right side of the photograph. Save the image as max quality JPG and upload to the MF Picasa album and the link to the spreadsheet.

PART B Guy EditWatch the video tutorial to create the black and white effect to your male portrait. Save as a JPG or PNG in full quality and upload to the MF Picasa album and the link to the spreadsheet. Also, email your finished JPG photo and PS file to your WordPress.

Do not do:

PART C Girl EditWatch the video tutorial and create your female photo graphic on the iMac in class (except for summer students). If you need to do this at home and you do not have CS5 then skip the circle pattern from 4:22 to 6:40 & don't include it. When finished save as a JPG in full quality and upload to the MF Picasa album and the link to the spreadsheet. Also, email your finished JPG photo and PS file to your WordPress.

Prepare for PrintThen, if your "Letters" checkpoint name is an even number name (e.g. Yi [2], Jack [4], Thomas [6]) then email the 4x6in JPG image to your Posterous. But if it is an odd number (e.g. Tim [3], Larry [5]), then crop the image in half so that it is 3in wide and 4in high and insert it to the right of your last letter 4x6in image which should have an open right half. Email it to your Posterous

do not do:

After you have taken and chosen your photos create open a new PS document that is 4x6in 200 resolution for portrait or 6x4in if it is landscape and insert one of your chosen photos into the document and resize as needed while keeping the same ratio. Position the photo so that it has good composition and rule of thirds.
