Band Photos
Musician Photo
Take a fun action photo of the person who played one of your main external instruments for your song that you will later use for an assignment you will complete in class. They can wear school uniform but not a white or gray shirt/pants. Make sure the photo shows the person from head-to-toe with their instrument (I have a guitar in the lab to borrow if needed) and that it is a fun photo showing the instrument they played. Lighting and contrast is very important as you can see by the examples. Anything light will become white and anything dark will be black, including the lighting on the face, so plan accordingly to get the style and look you want. Take the photo with a solid color background.
Take at least three photos for your band member so you have a few to choose from when you later create it. Post your three photos to Schoology.
Singer Photo
Take a photo of your main featured singer, which you will use later for an assignment you will complete during class. We will be using the photo to create a shadow effect in AI. Take a medium or medium closeup shot that shows check up or shoulders up. Make sure to pose them and use the posing techniques learned in photography according to their gender. When you pose them, have them pretending to sing (like the orange example below). If you want to include a microphone you can. Do not have them face the camera with their shoulders straight and a normal face like the green guy example below.
When you take your photos of the singer, take three different poses so you have a few to choose from. Post your three photos to Schoology.
You will want to make sure there is lighting contrast with the hair and the face:
If you want a half tone face look, make sure you use side lighting:
Do not have equal lighting on the entire person or it may blend like the example:
