Documentary Peer Review

Directions

Ask a classmate to view your documentary and give suggestions on how to improve it. Have them use a bullet list and type five ways that you can improve your video and ask them to send it to you via email.

Some things to keep in mind to check for peer review:

    • Your B-Roll should cover about 35-50% of the documentary and the interview in the other parts. Do not show an interview clip for more than 10 seconds.
    • Don't forget to have one of the intro options.
    • The interview should be cropped to rule of thirds.
    • Make sure you have your Subtitles correct if you have them in your film
    • Acts I-III
    • In Act I (first minute) you should establish the background information.
    • Act II should cover the conflict, rising action, and climax.
    • During Act III the conflict should be resolved and an emotional pull to connect the audience.
    • You can insert a twist at any time during the film.
    • Remember that when you submit the final it must be between 3-4 min (but only go to the max time limit if it is all quality footage).

Helpful Editing Shortcuts

    • Shift + Fx + Delete: Deletes footage and moves footage together (Ripple Delete)
    • Go to Edit, then label= change color of your footage
    • Alt + Delete: to remove the audio from video in your timeline ( remember to click the audio part and press delete after releasing the alt key)
