Comp Edits

You will now update any of your seven photos that you want in preparation for your final photos that you will submit for your project. Remember, your final photos will be graded on quality towards the final project.

To get started, make sure that Mr. Heil has given you number grades for all of your photos. If he has not or if you have na then take and get your final photos finished and graded in a new draft Picasa album.

Upload your final seven photos to a new album in your Picasa called Final Composition Unedited. In the captions write the topic and grade you received and order them starting with Space and ending with Leading the Eye.

Open Photoshop and create a new 6x4in 100dpi document setup. Drag your photo into the document and resize (cmd + t) the corners only while holding down shift to keep the same aspect ratio. When you are done save as full quality JPG and then hide the layer and drag the next photo in the same document etc. If it is portrait instead of this landscape size then create a new document setup that is 4x6in.

You are allowed to apply light Photoshop adjustments to your Photo but remember that your photo composition should be the main attraction, not Photoshop effects. Use the Adjustments Tutorial to improve them if needed. Make sure they are all color and do not use black and white, sepia, etc.

The following tools could be beneficial in enhancing your image while keeping the original photo integrity and message:

    • Curves (control lighting)
    • Dodge tool (darken parts)
    • Sponge tool (brighten parts)
    • Saturation (but do not use extremes)
    • brightness/sharpness
    • Clone, Patch, & Pattern tool to erase distracting parts of your photo
    • Crop tool
