La OI puede variar desde leve hasta severa y los síntomas varían de una persona a otra. Un individuo puede tener apenas algunas fracturas o alcanzar varios cientos de fracturas en toda la vida. No existe una cura, pero los síntomas pueden controlarse. Los tratamientos incluyen ejercicio, analgésicos, fisioterapia, sillas de ruedas, aparatos dentales y cirugía.

Somos un grupo de personas interesadas en apoyar a las personas que padezcan Osteogénesis Imperfecta, enfermedad de origen genético que afecta a la formación de los huesos.
La osteogénesis imperfecta (OI) es un trastorno genético en el cual los huesos se fracturan con facilidad. Algunas veces, los huesos se fracturan sin un motivo aparente. La OI también puede causar músculos débiles, dientes quebradizos, una columna desviada y pérdida del sentido del oído. La causa es un defecto genético que afecta la producción de colágeno, una proteína que ayuda a conservar huesos resistentes. Generalmente el gen defectuoso se hereda de uno de los padres. Algunas veces, se debe a una mutación, un cambio genético aleatorio.

We are a group of interested persons in supporting the persons who endure Osteogenesis Imperfecta, illness of origin genetic that it affects to the formation of the bones.
Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder in which bones break easily. Sometimes bones are broken for no apparent reason. OI can also cause weak muscles, brittle teeth, a curved spine and loss of hearing. The cause is a genetic defect that affects the production of collagen, a protein that helps keep bones strong. Generally the defective gene is inherited from one parent. Sometimes is due to a mutation, a random genetic change.
OI can range from mild to severe and symptoms vary from person to person. An individual may have just a few to several hundred fractures in a lifetime. There is no cure, but symptoms can be controlled. Treatments include exercise, analgesics, physical therapy, wheelchairs, braces and surgery.

La Asociación nace en el seno de los que padecen OI con la idea de que juntos podemos ayudarnos mejor, representarnos mejor y apoyar a otros mejor. Muchos de nosotros ya no somos niños pero padecemos la enfermedad como adultos, como profesionistas, y como tales queremos que los niños sepan que el mundo es de ellos, que la OI es solo un mini detalle de la vida, debemos de apoyar el desarrollo y el bienestar de los niños que lo padecen. The Association is born in the bosom of those who suffer with the idea that together we can help ourselves better, represent us better and support others better. Many of us are no longer child but we endure the illness as adults, as professionals, and as such we want that the children know that the world belongs to them, that OI is a mini detail of the life is alone, we must support the development and the well-being of the children who endure it.(Piky)
