The Infamous "Do Not Rehire" List

I went out on FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and didn't return to Amazon because it was six years of awful managers, no weekends, no personal life, and constant fear and anxiety.

I was totally shocked when I learned through several friends in recruiting and HR that I had been put on a "do not rehire" list, which is illegal after having been out on FMLA.

After telling several former Amazon colleagues about this, I found out several of them were on it as well. These were high-performing people who left on decent terms.

Most recently, a friend was to start working a contract at AWS. She showed up, and the recruiter told her a mistake had been made . . . she had a "negative review" from her tenure there EIGHT YEARS AGO and the recruiter rescinded the contract work.

This means you can't go to work for any Amazon subsidiaries, either. I don't see how any of this is possibly legal.
