PTO ending

Currently work at my local fulfillment center. Our facility opened the second week of September of last year. We were informed this week that PTO will be ending in May. Explanation given for the reason of ending PTO, was we received a lot of hours when we where employed, which simply isn't true. We received 10 hours of UPT at hire date. Since the facility opened the second week of September anyone employed the first two weeks of the facility opening received the 3rd quarter distribution of 20 hours of UPT and 10 hours of PTO. So if you started employment the first two weeks of opening date you had 30 hours of UPT and 10 hours of PTO by Oct 1st.

Each pay cycle of two weeks he have received roughly 3.4 to 3.7 hours of PTO time credit for worked hours. Management's explanation of ending PTO due to the amount we received at hire date simply doesn't add up. Believe it had to due with so many full time employees who started within that timeline where able to use the PTO (10hr 3rd Qtr + time occurred for work) and UPT time during the peak season. We had many people leaving a hour or two early a day during peak, which we worked five twelve hour shifts. Of the time employees were using only 10 hours of your PTO was a hand out for 3rd quarter, along with the fact many used UPT during peak saved the facility a ton of money in VCP payout since many used two or more times during peak.

Even worse with PTO ending in May, and any PTO hours left from 2017 being wiped out on the start of the new year has left all of us with very few hours or days of excused absences for this current year. Based on 10 hours of PTO received for 1st quarter distribution and another 10 hours for the second quarter distribution before PTO ends in May, thi will give us 20 hours of PTO plus time received for hours worked. Based on 3.5 hours of PTO per pay cycle will give use 28 hours if it ends May 1st or 35 hours if it ends May 31st. So a total of 48 to 55 hours of PTO will be all we will be receiving. That leaves us roughly 5 days of excused absence or any vacation days that might be needed.

Since we have only achieved 10.5 hours of Amazon vacation hours for time worked to due and will occur only a total of 40 Amazon vacation hours for all of 2018. With only 5 days of PTO (10hr work day) for sick, vacation hours needed, personal time off, basically any reason you might need time off, 5 days for all of 2018 is insane. They are basically forcing you into using your UPT, from time to time, thus saving the facility a ton of money in VCP payouts per month.

Plus extremely limiting any employee leaving work early during next years peak season since either many will have nothing to very little PTO left, or the fact with 12hr work days during peak you have little or no time anyway. But for management to state the reason for ending PTO is the amount received at employment date simply isn't true. We where given zero at employment and 10 hours for 3rd quarter payout.

I'm wondering if any other facility's PTO is ending in May also? I don't believe they are. From what I gather this is just our local facility's policy. Could anyone post a response and let us know if their facilities are also ending PTO in May?
