Callous disregard for anything other than self preservation

I am a current Amazon employee. I work as an Software Development Engineer. Even though I have really smart colleagues at Amazon, the only other somewhat positive thing is the decent pay and benefits. Amazon is truly a company that does not value people. Middle management do not lead their teams forward to big achievements. Instead, they twist the entire system to promote only their political friends and fire everyone else to meet their quota. I'm amazed how chaotic and wasteful it is and how the culture leads to a callous disregard for anything other than self preservation. It could be so much more if the managers started living up to Amazon's espoused principles.
