Management is the problem

As someone who used to work for Amazon at my local FC, I can tell you that some of the current AMs, Ops Managers, HRBP, and new Site Leader there are the problem. We had a great Site Leader, but he transferred to a new position recently; since then it’s been a road to Hell. Lots of people quitting, including me; some getting fired for something, and others targeted for abuse or phony writeups based on the opinion of management, which means they have nothing but a he-said, she-said situation, so they believe the woman even when there’s nothing to back that up.

One person who’s still there actually got asked their age and marital status by a hiring manager. So he got reported to HR in Seattle and then filed an EEOC charge against Amazon. The hiring manager also came right out and said that getting promoted depends on personal relationships, not qualifications, meaning whether or not the hiring manager likes you or not.

I heard that the new Site Leader there is an idiot, since he tried to threaten this long-time employee with not being able to work if they didn’t have some discussion with them, where he said it was obvious that he had already made up his mind about what he believed. Sounds like a great way to get your employees to have any confidence or trust in you. If they’re trying to hire more people for Peak, I don’t see how those attitudes towards their employees are going to help them. Threatening people just gives them a reason to quit or strike, and that would make management look really bad.

I hope that’s what happens. It’s probably the only thing that will make them pay attention, other than a lawsuit from the EEOC.
