Compensation is a joke

Even with the stock price sky high, compensation for workers in the Fulfillment Centers is still a joke. More specifically, the compensation is not adequate given the sacrifices you will need to make. As an area manager, you will routinely have to put in 50+ hour weeks off-peak. Additionally, you may be working nights but never get paid a differential.

Due to Amazon's growth, mandatory overtime will be called frequently during off-peak season and you will be doing 60+ hours those weeks, but receive no overtime since managers are "exempt". During peak (November and December), you will put in 70+ hours each week, again with no overtime.

Do the math: the pay per hour worked falls well below acceptable levels, even below minimum wage. This is even true if you have stock since it's never high enough to pay a sufficient offset for the the crazy number of hours.

Given the recent 120 degree days here in Phoenix, I also want to give a shout-out to all of those working in FCs not in Phoenix (where they have air conditioning). During the summer months at nearly all FCs in North America, the heat index remains above 100 day and night. It is not uncommon to be asking associates to meet their productivity goals while the heat index is at 110. Your pickers and stowers will be drenched in sweat looking like they are about to die from heat stroke (which has actually happened more than once). They get five extra minutes for break to cool down under these conditions - that's it: 5 minutes! This is definitely being run like a third-world sweatshop.
