Infinite availability of new employees

Amazon is famous for "frugality", especially towards employee perks. The whole concept of infinite availability of new employees pervades the company. This has taught most Amazon managers not to value current employees. The work-life balance is greatly out of whack, especially if your team owns lot of old software which is constantly on fire, but no one ever fixes since it won't help them grow their career (which is the only way to survive at Amazon). Amazon is a grow or die culture. Most managers are not very experienced so they blame their employees for everything and fire them to try to keep themselves employed.Â
