Never develop anyone

I wanted to briefly tell my story of working at Amazon. I worked for this company over the past holiday season. I was a general problem solver in their warehouse.

Most days, when I went in to work, none of the equipment worked, like the computers and scanners. We would spend the first hour or so scrambling for equipment and trying to find a replacement or fix it. After that, it's pretty much working the same way non-stop with no break for ten hour shifts (or even longer).

But my main beef with this company is that they see people that are actually working hard and putting an effort towards things and their solution isn't to work with them and develop them. Their solution is just to dump more and more work on the people until it's too much. It's an environment where they treat everyone as if they're expendable. The only people advancing in the company were the people that were really very selfish in and only it for themselves.

I only worked there for about five months. And by the time I quit, I think 75% of the people that I had started with had either walked off or been fired. And not fired for any offenses, but just because of stack ranking on metrics or because of favoritism.

It's not a fair work environment and Amazon workers need to unionize. There's no other solution.
