Fired after being harassed

Amazon is really a despicable company. Even though I was the star of my team and was promoted twice in 3 years, I was immediately fired when I complained after HR refused to do anything about my boss sexually harassing me.

It all started when my jackass of a boss decided to show what a perv he was by standing at my desk while reading me the names of some of the latest products added to the adult toys section of the Amazon website. He knew this was making me increasingly uncomfortable and laughed as he read the very explicit names without stopping even though I asked him to. After he did something similar a second time, I immediately went to our HR Business Partner and asked for help. She asked for proof but of course I hadn't recorded anything, so I told her I didn't have any. She said she would look into it and that I should keep everything confidential until she got back to me.

The next thing I knew, my VP welcomed me into a team meeting by referring to me as a "troublemaker". Since he and I had very few interactions, I could only assume he meant my complaint about sexual harassment. Finally HR came back to me and told me that they couldn't do anything about it since I didn't have any proof and my boss denied it but they would coach my boss on being more sensitive to his employees. After that, my boss started really bothering me on a regular basis, both privately and in our team meetings, as if he was trying to get revenge for my complaining about him. I complained about him again to HR and was told that, again, I needed to bring proof. The next thing I knew, I was walked into a meeting where I was fired without anything being stated as a cause. I knew that it was because HR was worried that I would actually start collecting proof of how badly my boss treated me, so their solution was to fire me instead of dealing with the actual abuser.

Amazon is really a sick place where HR's solution to every abuser is to fire the victim. I wonder how long it will take until someone does collect enough proof and Amazon has to pay millions for their despicable behavior protecting abusers.
