Break our backs

Since of June, all of Inbound at our site has been on Mandatory Overtime which is 5 days 11 hours. At first, it was to get our backlog down in order to prepare for Prime Day. However, apparently no matter how much freight we hoard in the building, it was still not enough to our Operations Manager and we are still stuck on MET. Outbound has it a little easier, but not by much.

Now that Prime Day is over, one would think the chaos is over. But the week after Prime Day, MORE 5 DAY, 11 HOUR MET IS CALLED! No one is happy about it in Inbound. It's becoming to the point that even the most dedicated veterans are getting tired of the overtime. No matter how much we voice our dissatisfaction, our "genius" Operations Manager said we need to get our backlog down, despite the number of freight doesn't require so much overtime and thanks us for our hard work.

To this guy, it's all about numbers and making the vendors happy that we can cram so much junk in the building, even though it's obvious that everyone is suffering here. We are overworked and exhausted. To the point where one of the day-time managers went MIA without a word.

I am sure more MET is going to be called all the way towards Peak season. We don't know what the Operations management is thinking that burning out employees before the holidays is a great idea. Then again, they're usually in their cozy offices while we break our backs to get their desired numbers.
