Can't live this way

Work/life balance does not exist at Amazon. As a result, it has a well-deserved reputation for being a sweat shop.

I've seen so many of my ex-Microsoft colleagues who took jobs at Amazon. They left after a year or two. Every single one of them. These were people who are smart, hard working, and innovative. They all thrived in Microsoft's challenging work environment, but they all had the same complaints about Amazon, which are documented by so many stories on this site.

It's really a shame. Amazon is creating a barrier for thousands of qualified people who would never even consider applying there. But I guess its continued growth is a sign that it's succeeding in keeping its offices filled with lots of new recruits, most probably from other countries without professional working standards. They're also probably too young to need to care about work life balance. But it will catch up with every one of them since you can't live this way for an entire career.
