Monstrosity

I worked at Amazon a few years ago before their recent explosive growth. I've stuck around Seattle since leaving and watched their insane culture grow into this monstrosity.

People are wrong when they say most employees won't stay more than a few years. Everything I hear is that the average tenure continues to shrink as the company grows, so most of them will not be there in a few months time, whether they work productively or not.

From the very beginning, when you worked at Amazon, you really only produced one thing: the megalomania of Jeff Bezos. He is definitely building a cult following his weird view of the world and if you don't immediately drink the Koolaid, you are pushed out the door even faster.

In Seattle, I never see anyone over 35 join Amazon any more. It is all 22 year old college graduates who are easily fooled. All those with a little bit of career wisdom are working at Microsoft, Google, or other tech companies.
