Only for the desperate

Amazon built a 2 million square foot distribution center near my city. No decent roads to get there. 2nd shift was 5:30PM to 4AM. Took me an hour to drive 27 miles to work.

Took 25 minutes to drive home at 4 AM. If it snowed, it took two to three hours to get there.

The staffing on 2nd shift is 99% refugees from one country. They lost 60% of those new hires in the first 30 days. They bus them in from a city over 50 miles one way.

I was on the first night shift in there. Counted for 30 days and picked for 5 months. Number one counter they had. I was averaging 426 picks an hour. Totally brutal jobs. Stand in one spot ALL shift. No talking. No Music. NO NOTHING. The harder you worked, the more they wanted. They also paid different people different wages. Same job classes and different wages. I didn't even find that out until after I quit.

Everybody I've talked to has already heard how terrible that place is. Various temp agencies and even Uber drivers around town have heard how bad the working conditions are.

You're literally stuck in one spot the entire shift.

I haven't even had time to read EVERYTHING on the Face Of Amazon Page. But, I've told a lot of people about it. Oh, by the way. I quit Amazon when I was offered a better job. After I had already resigned from Amazon, the job offer was rescinded. I won't re-apply to Amazon unless I get 100% desperate.
