All pain and no gain

Amazon's cutthroat culture is unsustainable. It drives key talent away from our company. The threat of being fired is so high all the time that people are discouraged from collaborating because they're afraid to take time from their own work.

Stack ranking is still happening, even if it's not officially the policy anymore. It's so ingrained into the managers, they are still doing it and it's all still based on personal favoritism, with cherry-picked metrics to back their list.

Even though the stock is doing really well, most people are still leaving within 2 years so Amazon never has to pay out other than maybe 5% of the hire grant. It's crazy that a company stock can be doing so well and yet people hate working here so much that they walk away from a big pot of cash at the end of the pain rainbow. All pain and no gain at the end.
