Nothing good to say

I left TPA-1 in June. My fiance has a really good, very well paying job and I was given an opportunity by her to leave.

Done.

Recently I have been in contact with a reporter from a local TV station and was interviewed. Apparently, Amazon is not well liked here. As a matter of fact, anywhere in the town surrounding the FC if you ask a local they will have nothing good to say about Amazon. It seems the whole town has worked for them and quit or gotten fired for TPA1.

Our FC I was always told by our AM (Area Manager) was the #1 AR (Amazon Robotics) building in the network. Yet....we are also at the very bottom of the pay scale. We start at $11 an hr here.

Awesome right?

Every year at the wage review they vomit the same rehearsed line in our All Hands.

"Your total compensation is equal to the surrounding businesses".

Lol really? What businesses are you referring to?

Mc Donalds? Checkers? The Dollar Tree?

Now granted our insurance is really good. I give credit where its due and the insurance is the reason a lot of people stay. But I always say this. Really good insurance means nothing if your car needs gas or the light bill is due.

Also at our FC (and other ones I'm sure are similar) if you are over 30 the chance that you will get promoted are next to zero. Thats just the way it is. Age discrimination is real and will become a big issue I'm sure for Amazon in the near future.

Why am I telling people this?

Easy, you are not alone and you don't have to put up with it.

Reach out to your local news stations. Tell your stories on social media. Let people know how employees are treated after they buy their kids that special birthday suprise.

They would be amazed. A lot of them would be shocked.

Bezos is the second richest guy on the planet. Surely he can give his tier-1 employees in Ruskin an hourly wage that makes it so they are not reliant on payday loans and the revolving door of debt that accompanies them.

I'm not as huge fan of Unions. I think in a lot of cases they do more harm than good but I don't see many other avenues for employees here. Amazon knows the problems and does nothing....as usual.

I even sent an email to Jeff. They sent a guy from Seattle down and I told him my story. The things I've seen. Our HR issues. Made him aware of the lies they are constantly telling us over and over again.

Its like if they keep saying them enough we will finally believe them.

We don't.

Keep up the fight people. The country is waking up. The word is getting around. Amazon is only a company. 30 years ago they didn't even exist. Stand up for what's right and don't allow yourself to be bullied. The world is watching.
