Hellish

I worked at Amazon for a year and a half. It was truly hellish. They just want more and more out of you and it's never ending.

I always beat my targets and did more than my fair share of work, but it's so badly managed that success in your metrics don't turn into any real benefits to you. The wages are pathetic and don't increase if you beat your targets. The work is totally boring and mind numbing.

Most importantly, there are no real career opportunities unless you spend your few free hours at the bar drinking beers with your boss. Even then, it's all up to him if he wants to make up the metrics needed to promote you or just can you when things slow down a bit and he doesn't need you and would rather try someone new, which happens every few months.
