PIP for surgery

Shortly after joining Amazon, I learned that I needed a surgery and scheduled the needed time off. When I came back from my surgery, I was harshly reviewed by my team lead and manager. After that, my manager planned to ensure my performance metrics were down.

Even though I had completed my assigned work, he assigned multiple people to do my design and code reviews, so my task was delayed. I worked nights and weekends with members of my team to finish things on time but he still complained that I was late. Shortly afterwards, he told me that he was going to put me on a PIP for performance. I thought this was unfair and wanted to consult a lawyer but didn't have the resources to do so. I left the company shortly after that to save my dignity.

Managers at Amazon use PIPs and dev plans to create graveyards for Engineers. Amazon leadership needs to see what their managers are doing.
