More top-down

I have been at Amazon for more than 6 years. The company has increasingly become top-down and process heavy across the board. It's becoming very hard, if not impossible, to get anything done with the amount of politics and "red tape" in place.

Career success here largely depends on delivering impactful projects. Like most of Amazon's purported Leadership Principles, this is good in theory. The reality is that the ability to take on the right project is out of your control and is very much politically controlled. Even those who fail in their projects are promoted, as long as they are the favorites of their managers and can take credit for someone else's work.
