HR is worthless

HR is worthless at Amazon. Don't expect them to help you if you are facing sexism like I did or any other discrimination. They side with management in every single case and don't seem to know anything about employee rights laws.

The result is high employee rotation. I heard once the average in the company is around 13 months. You don't "develop the best" in a rush building whatever can barely solve the customer issue and then passing it to the next person after your one year is up. Decisions are always taken above your head, so there is no empowerment to do your job. You will be a final executor of whatever your managers want without any real voice in the company decisions.

Another problems is the company has really poor work-life balance. You will work an average of at least 60h/week. Since no one expects you to stick around for more than a year, they don't really care if they overburden your time while you are here. They won't even say thank to you for this double-loaded work.

The final and biggest problem is the lack of collaboration and cooperation within the same team. Your work colleagues will offer little to no support in your first months as they are competing against you in the annual performance review. If you learn slower, you will not be a potential risk to them since they will survive the annual review and you will be fired.
