Hire and destroy the best

One of the Leadership Principles at Amazon is "Hire and Develop the Best". After going through a tough interview process, you think you'll be valued at Amazon. WRONG!

Once you start, you are worked to death. Vacation is limited and accrues slowly. There are very few holidays and everyone works long hours. Also, the expectation is that you will come in and work some weekends, nights, holidays and be available 24/7 for meeting calls.

Once you start getting burned out, the PIP process is totally demeaning and just a tool get you out the door.

I was physically threatened by another employee after he was put on a PIP and nothing was done because they were concerned that the employee would sue Amazon after they fired them for the PIP.
