Fate was sealed

I am recently a former Amazonian. I simply asked to change my shift schedule from nights to days, so that i could be there for my family on my off days. I talked to both the Hiring Department upfront and the Human Resource team inside the facility. The Hiring Department told me to resign and come back later in the week. So i popped into the Human Resource section to let them know that I had resigned, and the intent was for me to come back in a few days. So I left, reapplied for the day shift, and came back on Friday. Everything was looking great, I got hired to start a week from this Sunday.

Well, I got busy with family during this pandemic, and apparently they sent me a three day timeline to accept my shift that i had been hired to. I did not have to do this before, mind you. I was not aware so the date passed my on Wednesday. I went back on Thursday as soon as i realized, and waited over an hour for Human Resources to come talk to me. I got another email saying something about job abandonment, meaning they never processed my resignation. When someone finally came over, he told me to go home and he would call me when he figured it out. Well he never called. On Friday, I got an email to try Amazon again in a year.

I feel that money is very important during this Pandemic and I feel screwed over without much thought by Amazon, just because I am one person and they have thousands of employees. I was not important enough to pay attention to or put the effort into fixing the problem.

I wish there was an employee advocate at Amazon, because this probably never would have happened. My fate was at the hands of a lazy Human Resource person that didn't feel like processing my first resignation, or helping me with another alternative after my day shift was canceled.
