House of cards

Amazon managers don't give a sh*t about creating and maintaining any kind of culture which cares about their employees. As a result, they don't put any effort into developing their employees, which translates Amazon having the highest turnover rate in the tech industry. Amazon pays employees just enough to keep them working hard for a couple of years, after which they will give up on Amazon and leave for better places and then the new ones will come in.

This is not by accident. I will repeat: THIS IS BY DESIGN! The is actually the model that Amazon apparently wants to operate. Their managers keep a selected few favorite friends for a few extra years, but the majority of staff go through here like a train or bus terminal.

Other companies have tried to do this, but then correctly realized the cost of replacing employees was more expensive than the cost of supporting the layer of ineffective managers who don't actually know how to coach and develop employees. Unfortunately for my fellow Amazonians, Amazon seems to be too stupid (or too arrogant) to realize this until their entire house of cards will eventually suddenly collapse.
