Tommy Wills

Tommy Wills (b. Middletown, Ohio - ) – Saxophone player, singer, and band leader. Active since the 1950s, Tommy Wills encompasses Country, Rock N’ Roll, and Big Band Swing. After recording on various labels in the 1950s, he had more success in the following decade, especially with his instrumental “Man with a Horn,” which was a hit single on Gregory Records in 1963. In 1971, he moved to Indianapolis, his current home, and became a regular in the Holiday Inn circuit. Also in the 1970s, he traveled the nation playing country sax in the style of Boots Randolph. Starting in the 1980s, Wills has led various big bands, such as Tommy and the Tom Cats, the Ted Weems Orchestra (1980-84), and the Eddy Howard Orchestra (1985-89). For about a year starting in 1989, he toured the country with Bill Haley and the Comets. Currently, he leads his own 11-piece big band, which gigs throughout the tri-state area. While his old records (45s and LPs) are still collectors items, he has also recorded two CDs.
