Kelly Flint

Kelly Flint -- Singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Born in Germany, Kelly Flint moved to Long Beach, Indiana, at age fourteen. While in Long Beach, her father owned a restaurant called Tinker's Dam, above which the family lived and housed Chicago musicians like Steve Goodman. In 1976, she graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, where she sang in the chorus. Following an education at Kalamazoo College in Michigan and Temple University in Philadelphia, Flint moved to New York City in 1981 to pursue acting. Although working in advertising became her full-time occupation, she turned to music as a creative outlet. From 1992 to 2007, she was the singer of a quirky jazz lounge act called Dave's True Story, the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter David Cantor. Popular in New York City clubs, DTS released five albums, contributed two songs to the soundtrack of Kissing Jessica Stein (2001), and had some reunion shows in 2019. Following the break-up of the band, she started focusing on songwriting, releasing the CD Drive All Night in 2007. Backed by her husband Jeff Eyrich (also in DTS) on bass, she performs her folksy songs at intimate venues. With a backlog of over forty unrecorded songs, she is eager to resume recording. Lastly, Flint still has family and close friends in Indiana and plans on moving back to the Hoosier state after retirement.
