Ben Aronov

Benjamin Aronov (b. Gary, August 16, 1932 - d. Aix-en-Provence, France, May 3, 2015) -- Pianist. Ben Aronov spent his teen years in Tulsa, where he gained experience playing in dance bands. After serving in the U.S. Army, he moved to Los Angeles in 1954 and played with vibraphonist and bandleader Terry Gibbs and vocalists June Christy and Lena Horn. In 1961, he moved to New York City, graduating from the Manhattan School of Music in 1966. He then played with several well-known individuals in jazz, among them Benny Goodman, Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Al Kohn, Bob Brookmeyer, and Zoot Sims. He was also the leader on two albums. From 1982 to 2000, he was the pianist for Cats on Broadway.
